
Empowering Church Leadership: ACK Diocese of Mombasa Hosts Capacity Building Workshop at Makupa and Ukunda
As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening church leadership, the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Mombasa held a capacity building workshop at ACK St. Luke’s Makupa and ACK St. Paul's Ukunda. The workshop brought together clergy, lay leaders, and church council members for a day of intensive training focused on leadership, governance, and mission work.
Training Objectives
The workshop aimed to equip church leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to guide their congregations with integrity, spiritual maturity, and strategic vision.

Leadership and Governance:
Participants were taken through the core principles of servant leadership, accountability, transparency, team management, and effective church administration. Emphasis was placed on inclusive decision-making and financial stewardship.
Mission Work and Evangelism:
The training also focused on revitalizing mission strategies, strengthening discipleship, and encouraging outreach initiatives. Leaders were challenged to become agents of transformation both within and beyond their church communities.

Rev. Canon Richard – who spoke on ho covered governance structures and administrative best practices,
Venerable Canon Murutu – who covered on visionary leadership and spiritual responsibility,
enerable Douglas Onjwang' – who led sessions on mission and evangelism with practical tools for parish outreach.
Their combined wisdom, pastoral experience, and interactive teaching styles made the workshop both informative and inspiring.

Leaders from various parishes expressed their appreciation for the training, calling it timely and empowering.
“This workshop has equipped us with tools to serve better, lead wisely, and impact our communities spiritually,” said one church elder.

The Diocese of Mombasa, under the leadership of Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr Alphonce Baya, continues to prioritize capacity building and leadership development as essential components of church growth. More workshops are planned across the Diocese to ensure that every parish benefits from this initiative.
